My Story

Hey lovelies, it means so much to me that you want to know about my journey and learn more about me. I am forever grateful for all of your support. So I want to say a huge big THANKYOU before we even start!!

My name is Ashlee Threadgold and I am the owner of Your Wellness Project, a primary school teacher and a lover of all things health, nutrition, wellness, travel, happiness and absolutely everything else that lights your soul on fire.

I believe we were put on this earth to experience, create memories, make mistakes, learn, love, and most importantly live presently in the moment and create a life not a living.

Every day I bounce out of bed ready to smash a new goal, cross something off my list (yes I am a HUGE list person), be present, be in the moment and exude patients and love to each and every person I encounter.

While I have always been a slight ‘health nut’ growing up, I have to be honest with you, I haven’t always been ‘healthy’ or ‘happy’ like I am today. I was lucky enough to grow up with my parents and 2 brothers in a house close to the beach, with fresh wholesome food at our finger tips and got fed very well by my parents. Throughout most of my schooling, we would get beautiful sandwiches or wraps in our lunch boxes with a piece of fruit, a ‘healthy’ muesli bar and some sort of ‘treat’ such as finger buns, biscuits, donuts or basically anything else sweet.

I was never a fat kid or teenager, but once I hit that age of starting to care what I looked like, I never felt completely comfortable in my own skin, in bathers or anything that showed off my legs. I was my own worst critic. I was harsh on myself and that started to reflect in how I was living my life. I am quite a small girl, only 163cm, and my legs are short and stubby (well I think so anyway). I was hard on myself in ways that I would exercise excessively every day, I would never eat anything ‘bad’ and I would write out a meal plan each week so I knew what I would be eating at all times. What I also did though, and something I am not proud of, is binge drink and binge drink a lot on the weekends. I would stay out late dancing and drinking with friends then wake up the next morning feeling horrible and hating myself even more.

I hit a point in my early 20s, just after my parents got divorced where I was feeling so down on myself, being super healthy during the weeks yet still partying on the weekends, clearly not a healthy cycle to be in.

I was laying on my bed one Sunday morning and I literally looked at myself in the mirror and thought ‘what I am I doing?’. I did not want to feel like this anymore. I was sad about my family unit falling apart so quickly, sad that I was not 100% comfortable in my own skin, and sad that all of the exercise and healthy eating work I was doing did not seem to help my body change or the number on the scale decrease. I made a pact to myself to snap out of it, start looking for the good in absolutely every situation, stop focusing on my weight and the number on the scale, start eating and exercising mindfully and just living the healthiest and happiest life possible.

That moment was life changing. 

Ever since that ‘light bulb’ moment I have never looked back. My life has become one huge dream and I am living fully and present in each moment, each and every day. I feel more alive than ever. I am bursting with energy, love and happiness. I feel so full with knowledge and information thanks to my Institute of Integrative Nutrition Holistic Health Coaching course, my primary teaching degree (there is plenty to learn from children of today in relation to happiness), every book and journal I read and every podcast I listened to whilst I was on my wellness journey. I literally became obsessed with everything I was learning and could not wait to share my passion with the world, and hopefully help a couple of people along the way to transform their lives to living a healthy, nourishing and balanced lifestyle, just like I did to myself!

I do not believe in depriving yourself of absolutely anything, I do not believe in over exercising to reach goals quicker, I do not believe in following the latest ‘health trend’ because it worked for your best friend. I believe in finding what works for you, your body and making that your lifestyle. I guarantee when you dance to the beat of your own drum you will feel and be eternally happy, healthy and nourished form the inside out. I am here to help you find that. I am here to help you live life on your own terms, in the healthiest and happiest way possible! I want you to be bursting with energy, love and fulfilment just like I am each and everyday! All you have to do is say YES.
